So this week on Tuesday we had our District and Zone meeting. It was one of the most spiritual meetings. At the beginning of each meeting, a companionship shares a "milagro" . So Elder Dunshee began to tell us that one day in the week, all of their plans and appointments fell through. They were walking around without knowing really where to go. They ended up in an unplanned street and there was a man. They introduced themselves and the man told them that he needed help. They went inside his house and began talking. The man told the elders that he had been planning to take his life. He decided to wait because he had a thought come to his mind saying that "there is hope". The next day the elders talked to him in the street. Elder Dunshee began to cry and express his feelings about the experience. To that man, those two elders are angels who were placed in his path to change and bless his life. It just strengthens my testimony to know that really we are just instruments in the Lords hands. Our plans may fall through but we are always being guided to who needs us at that moment.
Toward the end of our meeting, we shared pictures of our family. We passed them around for everyone to see. (The Elders were all impressed with my dads mustache). After the pictures, they had a few missionaries share things about their family. One Elder stood up and began to explain that he doesn{t have a family. His photo was a group photo of missionaries and he said that we were his family. His parents both passed away when he was 12 and his siblings aren{t really around. He started to cry. The Spirit was so strong. We talked about how much our families mean to us, the importance of family, our goals and hopes for our future family, and all that jazz. Then they related it to how we are a family here. As a zone, we are a family. We are all in the same situation and have a lot of the same problems and struggles in the mission but just like our families back at home, we are here to support and love each other.I loved it! And I love both of my families! It was a spiritual and emotional meeting.
We had intercambios this week. I went to a different area and worked with Hermana Cole. It was fun. The best part is that we went to the Bishops house that night to celebrate a birthday! The bishop, his wife, his two kids, and 6 missionaries were there and we ate some chocolate cake. I lucked out because it wasnt my bishop or my area!
My Friday the 13th was good. Something unlucky but funny happened. We were walking down the street and a bus passed us. As it passed, it went through a puddle and nasty street water splashed on my companion and I. It was just like in the movies. haha
So we are planning a wedding. The first wedding I have been able to help plan. It is going to be a simple but beautiful day for them. Carmen and Edwin. They are going to be married Friday night in the church then they are going to be baptized. It is going to be so special. A family who together are making the decision to follow the Savior. I feel so blessed to be a part of their progress and seeing them change and better their lives. They are a young couple always teasing and joking. A few days after teaching the Word of Wisdom, we called them about an activity. Right as we were about to hang up, Edwin yells through the phone that they were about to go make and drink coffee. It was funny, those teasers.
Life is good and God really is great. I love this gospel and I love being able to teach and share the gospel every single day!
Here is a scripture for your Monday morning:
And now, my bretheren, I wish from the inmost part of my heart, yea, with great anxiety even unto pain, that ye would hearken unto my words, and cast off your sins, and not procrastinate the day of your repentance, But that ye would humble yourselves before the Lord, and call on his holy name, and watch and pray continually, that ye may not be tempted above that which ye can bear, and thus be led by the Holy Spirit, becoming humble, meek, submissiv, patient, full of love, and all long-suffering, Having faith on the Lordñ having a hope that ye shall recieve eternal lifeñ having the love of God always in your hearts, that ye may be lifted up at the last day and enter into his rest. Alma 13: 27-29
Have a great week! Lots of love from El Salvador!
Hermana Ferre
